RABITZA +7 ( CURATED )

Rabitza +7" is the first exhibition project within the walls of "Rabitza." Over the course of a week, seven projects by Moscow street artists will be exhibited in the walls of the nightclub.

The curator of the exhibition is one of the participants, STFNV – Artem Stefanov. "Rabitza +7" will be a unique experiment since street artists, for whom working in the space of a nightclub is a rare experience, were invited to participate. Participants create their installations specifically for the exhibition, taking into account the layout of the rooms, their functions, and the atmosphere of "Rabitza." The works will become a logical extension of the club space, becoming an integral part of it.

The nightclub "Rabitza" has been operating on the territory of the "Aviator" plant for eight months. During this time, "Rabitza" has gathered more like-minded individuals and creative groups, setting new goals for itself and devising ways of further development, aiming not to remain just a music venue.

For "Rabitza," music, regardless of genre, is in constant communication with the artistic world, and visual art is a full-fledged participant in every event alongside the artists. This time, the club decided to shift the focus and draw attention specifically to the visual component, inviting friendly artists who share the values of "Rabitza."

"Rabitza +7" is the first exhibition project within the club, which can be considered an experiment for all participants. For the organizers, this is the first experience of showcasing activities in a new light, getting involved in Moscow's art world, opening their doors to a wider audience, and going beyond the bounds of nightlife. The task for the artists was to adapt to the unconventional venue, significantly different from familiar exhibition spaces in both function and rich visual content.

Artists invited to participate in the "Rabitza" exhibition have experience working with nightclubs and music festivals. Participants work individually, in pairs, and in groups, engaging in drawing, graphic design, media art, collages, each with different techniques and styles. The only thing that unites them is their past: they all started with graffiti and street art. This experience helps the artists adapt to any unconventional space, play with its features and geometry, and skillfully integrate their works, feeling the atmosphere and mood of the surrounding environment.

The exhibition features seven main projects and two special ones that form a cohesive composition and are equally involved in the visual play. The seven installations are located throughout the territory of "Rabitza," each interacting with the space in its own way depending on the chosen artistic method and the materials used. The artists solve challenges related to low lighting, excess surrounding textures and colors, offering their perspective on the visual appearance of the nightclub. The installations complement the lighting and sound design, also specially developed for "Rabitza +7."

Born in 1986 in Barnaul, Russia, Andrei began his interest in street art in 1999, inspired by the wave of hip-hop culture in Russia. In 2002, he enrolled in a university with a specialization in "Environmental Design." Simultaneously, Aber worked extensively as a street artist in the urban environment, participating in numerous regional and all-Russian street art exhibitions and festivals. In 2009, he organized and curated the conceptual project "Idiot Proof," which included elements of sculpture, installation, photography, and video, with active engagement in the urban environment (Barnaul). Andrei Berger explores his ideas through various artistic mediums, from performance and sculpture to wall painting, graffiti, installation, painting, and graphics. The artist focuses on studying form, space, and their transformations.

Maxim Malyarenko, born in 1988 in Moscow, engaged in an art studio during childhood and later attended an art school. In 2004, he started painting on the streets with the team "Oni." In university, he met the members of the ZUKCLUB team, joining them in 2008. Over time, Acidbask shifted his preference from walls to canvases, sketchbooks, and plywood. According to Acidbask, he continues to "master" plywood, as this material allows him to go beyond the conventional canvas and create works that "engage in a complex connection with its surrounding space."

An artist, graphic designer, and graffiti writer, Vova Nootk has been drawing for over 10 years, specializing in creating characters, patterns, and narrative connections. Paying great attention to technique and line cleanliness, Nootk's recognizable style, coupled with the palpable urban spirit, stems from his graffiti background as a writer in the early 2000s. His art represents a constant synthesis of urban vibrations, moods, and storylines, with a childlike and vivid uniqueness of a wild imagination.

In the late '90s, Alexey Kio and Ivan Benr independently became fascinated with graffiti, and in the early 2004, they joined the Sicksystems project. During the collective's existence, their works have participated in international exhibitions and been featured in Russian and foreign publications. In 2009, they left the team, allowing them to concentrate better on personal projects and continue experimenting in related fields such as illustration, graphics, and design. Subsequently, they have successfully collaborated with exhibition spaces and major brands. While Kio develops his style within post-graffiti and street art, Benr works in the field of graphic and video design. Today, Kio and Benr continue their joint experiments, exploring new artistic forms in the realm of visual digital art.

An artist from the suburban city of Protvino. He began his creative journey with graffiti in 2006, simultaneously developing an interest in photography. With a background in software engineering and graphic design, Ivan currently focuses on creating paper collages, assemblages, and readymades, while continuing to paint on walls. In his work, Ivan often blends different techniques through experimentation.

A team of street artists formed in 2009, Vitae Viazi, comprises three artists: Stas Kanevsky, Anastasia Kraseva, and Masha Merami. Their collective name consists of two words: Latin "Vitae" (life) and Cyrillic "Viazi" (a type of ornamental writing). Currently, they focus on studying the art of Slavic peoples, its transformations, and applying this knowledge to street art, forming the basis of their visual language. The narrative of their murals and its detailing result from a collaborative analysis of ideas reflecting their thoughts and emotions. The artists often incorporate elements of Slavic culture, forgotten fonts, and ornaments that find new life on the walls.

An artist and graphic designer from Moscow, formerly one of the members of the art group Zukclub. STFNV specializes in large-scale street works with pronounced optical effects. He creates large-scale paintings on building facades and has participated in over 30 Russian and international street art festivals.
